Exactly, for that price you’re not really getting much aside from a few playability tweaks.

Let me start by saying I get it, sometimes the ‘magic’ of a guitar gets ruined by a well intentioned guitar tech.
That said what you are describing is a complete re-finishing job, and possibly a gutting the guitar down to a husk and replacing all the parts. The paint will easily cost upwards of 1-2k, and swapping out everything with decent parts could cost $500 - $1,000.
The ‘wife’ in the green text said she spent $200, for that price you aren’t getting much, fresh strings, a setup, and possibly a spot level and crown for any high frets. A few minor tweaks, that in theory could be undone.
As a fellow guitar player I’m not certain why this is being down voted so hard? Guitars are made to be modified, so anything that was done can be undone.
The interesting thing is that the wife said she only spent $200 bucks to get the guitar repair. Your mileage may vary, but in my neck of the woods $200 doesn’t get you too much in the way of a repair. They would probably offer to give your guitar a ‘setup’ and a new pack of strings, near me that would cost around $100, maybe a little more. So whatever else they fixed couldn’t have been too invasive, possibly new tuning pegs or resolved any wiring issues?
Everything there can be undone, a setup is the hardest as it would change the feel of the guitar. For the most part the ‘feel’, really only comes down to string height or ‘action’. That’s a quick fix for a guitar tech if brought back to the shop, hell a motivated amateur could probably probably figure out how to make that adjustment with a screwdriver and a Google search.
All that said I totally understand how the ‘magic’ of a guitar can easily be lost in the hands of a well intentioned but misguided guitar tech.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•[Ethics] Why do people condemn Zoophilia on the basis of other animal's inability to consent but those same people kill animals without asking for their consent? Why such inconsistency?
93·4 months agoSome of the countries with the large percentages of vegetarians, vegans or predominantly plant forward diets such as India or South East Asia are not wealthy by Western standards. Eating a ‘healthy’ plant forward diet does not have to be an expensive affair.
The perception that a plant based diet is a wealthy western modern invention is white washing its unglamorous origins as a traditional eastern diet, especially in Buddhist, Jain, Hindu, etc cultures.
To dismiss a plant forward diet because not everyone can afford to eat impossible burgers 7x a week is disingenuous, as people were eating diets with little to no meat for centuries before faux ‘beuf’ plant minces were invented.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Vegans of Lemmy, what is your favorite vegan cookbook?
71·5 months agoI’m personally not a fan of following recipes, but my wife loves cookbooks. A few of her go to are:
Veganomicon - By Isa Chandra Moskowitz, Terry Hope Romero
And The How Not to Die Cookbook By Michael Greger, Gene Stone
There are so many details I have to ask, is this for a creative writing session, or are you asking based on a real life situation?
That said, your question is oddly phrased as I’m not entirely sure of the relevance of gen z or social media. But at its core it sounds like you are asking are death bed confessions prosecutable?
According to Google yes it’s technically possible. But in the scenario you are discussing, where someone is potentially in hospice or in a hospital death bed confessing a crime at an extremely old age, I suspect nothing much would happen.
Often legal issues take a long time for anything to happen, they would have to reopen a case, start an investigation, see if they can find corroborating evidence, ect. Depending on the situation all they would have to go on all they might have is the confession itself and it may be difficult to prove this wasn’t some kind of confabulation of dementia.
Assuming they moved forward and the individual made it to trial (which very often can take many years), it’s doubtful that you would be able to find a jury willing to convict a 105+ year old person based upon potentially thin evidence.
So yes it’s technically possible, but I’m not sure it would be a worthwhile use of judicial resources and suspect it would very likely be swept under the rug.
I actually think you are on to something here as I feel like there will always be people who desire to be with a “real human”.
That said if they ever developed something like a holodeck in real life I can see it making a dent in the industry.
Like morally I’m completely fine with prostitution, although in practice consent is hugely important for me, and you can never be truly certain if they are being coerced into the practice by a pimp/madam/other extenuating circumstance. With a computer consent really becomes a non issue, and thus a little more “morally okay”.

1·8 months agoThis theory makes too much sense, I love it. One question though why specifically the Yorktown? How do we know it was that specific ship and not any other damaged federation ship?
Well because you asked… It’s fake because if you’re a native New Yorker (or I assume if you’ve lived there long enough) you become numb to the nose and stop hearing it. And probably more importantly, people scream at the top of their lungs in NYC all the damn time, New Yorkers DO. NOT. RESPOND. YOU DO NOT LOOK. YOU IGNORE. Eye contact is a great way to get assaulted by a homeless person who is possibly dealing with psychosis.
Lastly NO ONE in New York uses the phrase “badda bing badda boom”, that’s some lame Hollywood trope, I’ve literally never heard anyone use it in real life.
To clarify by modern man, I meant a human living in the year 2026 who eats a “modern diet” of (at least partially) processed foods with significantly lower fiber intake than that of a preindustrial man. (Obviously this would be excluding currently living humans who are living in tribal conditions, such as those living in North Sentinel Island.)
I was not attempting to imply that those living at that time were of a different species than homosapiens. To be honest if they were a different species I’m not sure my comment would have made sense as different homo species would likely have subtle differences in their digestive tracks than homosapiens.
I mean you’ll probably get runny shits from eating it due to the excess fiber, but I’m fairly certain the ancient nomadic tribes who first started eating wheat like that probably had significantly more fiber in their diets than modern man and eating it like that would probably be far less of a shock to their system than us puny fiber weaklings.

3·1 year agoI mean there are a lot of issues with the TMP, it was an odd script likely because it was written by a man who never really worked in movies prior (only television to my knowledge) and rather than being written from it’s inception as a two hour movie it was also adapted from a pilot of a television series, which all makes it feel kind of klunky with odd pacing.
That said recutting the movie into a 22 min streamlined version makes a lot of sense to me, no fluff only plot.

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•Screen size & your importance
11·1 year agoSame, I’m also a dev who prefers working off a notebook screen. This fact boggles the minds of my coworkers, especially my boss who seems mortally offended that I only work on one screen.
I guess that means I’ve broken the social norms of a corporate slave?
I mean he is kind of in love with the ship’s nurse, it’s not hard to imagine what comes next.
I’m pretty sure I’m completely missing the point, but how on earth did you find yourself in the situation? Like your dick out and blindfolded in a location that virtually anyone can walk into. All of a sudden with little warning you feel something happening down there but you don’t peek or ask what’s up, you just sit there silently and long enough for you to realize you’re getting the best blowjob of your life.
Honestly the more I describe the scenario the more I realize unless it’s a trusted partner, this is not the type of scenario that most women would immediately just start going to town without reason. So if you are strictly looking for a woman, at very least one of sound mind you are probably SOL.

5·1 year agoI’d love to know your thoughts why the Internet is systemically right leaning? I don’t spend too much time on the political side of YouTube, but similar to op I’ve been perpetually confused as to why Instagram runs so hard to the right.
The idea that the Internet being systemically right leaning is super interesting and may explain a lot.

Have you tried various flavored waters or seltzers? Long term the caffeine addiction probably isn’t that great for you either.
You don’t have to go cold turkey, but if I were you I would try to taper down your soda consumption and see how that makes you feel. You may also be slightly dehydrated and a little water (as in flavored waters, if you can handle it) may make you feel a little better.
