cant do that anymore on slower courts tho

peak 04-07 federer is undisputed, gonzalez had a better fw tho
no worries mate. ive played since i was a kid and went all the way through ITFs and whatever, tennis is the worst when it comes to mental stability and i have probably given away what was me racquet in the other comments. all that being said, you are totally right lol, but i still dont think carlos’ forehand is that dominant
doesnt come close to most of forehands in his era, alcaraz is a beast with absurd vision, but it doesnt come close to nadal, gonzalez, warinka, or federer’s. i might be being nostalgic here, but i dont see that forehand dominance anymore and ironically djokovic is the one who does it
not to lowball or feel superior or anything else, but just to add to this discussion i would like to add the facr that djokovic has never played wilson racquets, they were all paintjobs
out of all that you mentioned, shelton has a future sure ya
i stand corrected and agree with you, but what makes djokovic the goat is his baseline consistency, if you keep htting deep and well plaiced shots ur opponent is not getting to the net ever
i dont follow WTA but thats sampras fact is indeed insane
not technically at all mate, sorry about that. in hard courts its not just pure cement (or whatever the material is) anymore, in which the bounce was much much faster and lower, which favoured aggressive/ serve&volley styles. on top of that balls have got bigger and get more swollen through play. this favours audience, sponsors and overall people who would not watch tennis in the first stance. i still think novak is the goat nonetheless. andy was me favourite but hip injuries are carreer ending
he was indeed a more offensive player back then and his forehand was somewhat faster, but aggression in continuously slower courts is degrading day after day. i wouldnt call him a defensive player today but he’s a consistent baseliner outplaying everyone
slower courts and balls have made net game/ overheads practically irrelevant. i agree with you that his net game used to be atrocious and his overhead will probably never be sorted (same as mine lol, used to play junior ITFs, but mostly clay so i was somewhat fine), but given his playstyle i think the forehand change was more significant
maybe ljubicic as his coach innit
