Other teams are able to make adjustments more easily. The spurs are still learning to play together one way, so adjusting to something else is more difficult.
The simplest answer to your question is that we don’t have a single proven anything. Nobody is elite at any single thing and they haven’t played with each other for long. A team this young has never gone far at all so there’s no reason to believe we’re an exception to the rule.
He’s supposed to shut him down, no? He plays great defense here but that should be the expectation that he shuts down the rookie. Gobert is just doing his regular thing here, the man does have multiple defensive player of the year awards after all.
