sorry about that
that sounds awesome! (there’s 10k zero width spaces between the quotes ->‘’.)

I wonder if this falls in scope of what’s known as open-core? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Open-core_model
The “core” is technically FOSS, but that’s about it.

Happened to me with a group of people when offroading out in the middle of nowhere and no data/wireless. Almost impossible to share info without going back to civilization. Doesn’t happen often, but its a nice feature to have.

Our systems were never compromised…
The wording is important. They can say their systems weren’t compromised, sure, but the bigger news is that their org was infiltrated by a bad actor.
That’s true, but its not always about the server, people tend to download images/memes/etc with the intent to edit/share. If you were on macos and happened to download a webp image in the 10 years that Apple didn’t support them, you were in for some googling and/or frustration.
yeah macOS supports webp now (since ~2020), but it lacked support for a decade, causing frustration for its users and anyone trying to support macOS/Safari.
its interesting to me that this is only really an issue on proprietary OS’s (mac/windows) as i’ve never had an issue with any image or video formats when using linux. i use all three but linux is my primary OS. mac/windows mostly stay at work.
16 CVE’s for libjpeg just last year: https://app.opencve.io/cve/?vendor=jpeg

add a dash of ‘gnome’ in your search and problem solved, mostly.

that’s callous, disconnected and embarrassing.

CoMaps (unless they’ve diverged from Organic Maps already) only updates map info once a month. Once a month they “cut” whatever is latest on Open Street Maps (OSM) and update their database. if someone updates OSM today, you may not see it on CoMaps until the monthly update is available.

Little known fact, the “J” stands for Jackass

For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet.
So lets abolish all laws on the books because people still break them? That doesn’t make sense.
For who?
Data brokers will now have to navigate this law and enforce it or face fines at significant cost to their business model; your data is worth ~$200 a year and they would be fined that much per day if they don’t comply. And audits are coming to ensure compliance. So yes, it will be a big waste of time, but not for us. It’s data brokers who will need to ensure they’re enforcing the policy or face fines that well exceed the cost of business.
Lastly, California started it but now other states are looking to implement similar laws, so its only going to get better.
