  • Kyler is the #1

Dobbs is a great backup, but we only had him through this season and we wouldn’t get him at 1.5M again

He started to get in his own head. He has HUGE upsides (athletic, smart, when on he makes amazing reads) but if you watch him after he started to get shook up a bit he started making bad throws, bad reads, etc. Nothing the right personnel can’t protect a lot of, but it wasn’t with us right now.

Monti is reshaping the org… and honestly as good as he is as a backup he was probably #3 with his cost to play time ratio so they let MIN have him while they could get ANYTHING (he only has to last 1/2 the remaining games to mulligan our pick to MIN)

  • I mean I know it sounds silly, but he can REALLY be used in those short yardage goalline / inches situations because he does have a decent amount of mobility, obviously he’s a QB and can throw, but he’s also got some push so the tush push (at least this season since rumblings are it might meet a rule next year after the owners meeting) works too.

Yeah, probably not what he would like ideally… but its a pivotal role when you’ve got a balanced O that often puts up the run and “and inches” isn’t too uncommon when it does hit 4th down.

  • Not at all.

Most likely this happened after the confirmation Cousins was out for the year, and MIN started asking about QB’s. End of game Sunday all Gannon knew was that next week its business as usual. Then the talks started so he pulled Dobbs and let them work that since they knew MIN needed a QB.

I almost guarantee this was a Monti call looking to get something knowing they weren’t going to likely keep Dobbs next year and setup a new contract.

He started off real solid. I think the games just a bit all over for him being a rookie. I don’t get the gut feeling he’s a strike out… i think he’s just got some normal rookie issues combined with a weak offensive line that’s not allowing things to play the way they should.

    We’ll see, though.

  • So many good reads and passes, but lets talk about that off the back foot, while stepping backwards and a BEAUTIFUL loft directly to Kirk’s hands while he’s hitting the end zone at 2:10. Also so many times he had O collapse and had to scramble, but still throws a perfect pass to his read and often times in coverage.

Lets hope with the new scheming and management we get some of that flexibility for the whole field we saw back there.

Yes, so many also involve DHOP but he got the ball there… DHOP did the rest. It’s on our WR corps to make those plays, he just has to get the ball there and help them march up the field.
