I have my main distro installed on one nvme, and have 4 50Gib partitions set aside on another for playing around with up to 4 other distros. No microslop. No other distro that I have tried had an issue with that set up.
I will check it out again some day on my old (pre nvme) pc instead. Much easier with 2.5" drives
Last time I tried to install bazzite, it told me to f off because I have other distros installed. Is that still the case?
I used it a few years ago multibooting and it I don’t recall it complaining then
I appreciate this page for that reason
…and the people keep living unsustainably, bankrolling dodgy corporations, and voting for dodgy politicians, while not taking any responsibility
oh wow fam, ai is protecting us from… ai
I haven’t used rocky, it is just the one that is suggested in the arch wiki link above.
“such a lemmy moment” 🤣🥱
ai, protecting people from ai.
No doubt that is what most people want, but it often isn’t how it works, especially if you want to use software on linux, that the developer doesn’t appear to want you to use.
Rockyos linked above via distrowatch might be your best bet
ubuntu is a misnomer
I’m not talking about starscream
ai is owned and marketed by completely evil people.
When I first looked into linux, I found heaps of recommendations for ubuntu, mint, zorin, pop, and fedora, but none of them seemed right (for various reasons), so I distrohopped until I found something that made sense. It’s easy enough if you use ventoy, and if you have a spare drive, or even enough space on a drive to make some 50GB (ish) ext4 partitions. Even easier if using 2.5" sdd’s since you can very easily disconnect your windows drive to avoid potential weirdness.
I don’t use da vinci resolve, it doesn’t sound linux friendly, aside from on rocky os (which I know nothing about)

The usual option is to look for alternatives to da vinci, such as kdenlive. Alternatives are not always of interest, or considered viable for some users of course.
I distrohopped to end up with it a few years ago, and distrohopped again this year, it’s still the only one that ticks the boxes for me. Never had any issues with it, on 3 systems.
amd zen 6 was mentioned, this is the 1st time I have seen it mentioned for a while, so I did a web search and straight away… ai bollocks, which is also the 1st thing you see when you go to their website.
the pc I am writing this on is all amd, and given the choice out of amd, intel, or nvidia, the choice would still be amd, but I would rather a decent choice existed, one from a different country would be a good start.
“She continued that Munich had switched away from Linux because a new government got Microsoft to agree to make Munich the headquarters for Microsoft Germany.”
just human things…
manjaro, unless you can’t handle the plethora of meme type people telling you it is terrible, and downvoting you as if they have a point. It is the logical entry point if you want an arch base. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=manjaro
garuda is also decent, some of their versions are over the top shiny, but mokka, and kde lite are much easier on the eye. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=garuda
bluestar might also interest you, I have it installed, but haven’t looked into it much yet. https://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=bluestar
Even when I was back on windows, my data was always stored on a separate physical drive, I do the same now on linux, and will never understand why anyone would choose to store the 2 on the same drive (unless they only have 1 drive).
I didn’t use ‘my documents’ and I don’t use ‘home’ either. No doubt there are some benefits to doing so though.
Doesn’t sound worth it for me, I always want a back up distro on a different drive, just in case I stuff anything up, and I do like to occasionally install other distros just to check them out. The majority play well together.
