This happens to me with games that have lots of sequels like Far Cry and Assassins Creed. I know I’ve played a bunch of them, but I could not tell you which ones.
A Short Hike is so good! I just played it on Game Pass.
There’s another game, Lil Gator Game, that has the exact same vibe.
I feel you. It’s not even about the money sometimes, since you can get good games from years ago for cheap. To me, it’s about the lack of “wonder”. Most of the big games are iterations on existing formulas or genres. After you’ve played a lot of games, it takes a lot more to bring about the same emotional reaction as the games you played when you were younger.
