It’s cute how OP is comparing enterprise-grade HDDs with 5y warranty, with the trashiest consumer-grade SSDs with 2y warranty, some of which are QLC garbage that cannot be reliably used for long-term storage.
The simple fact that redditors here feel the NEED to downvote anyone who agrees with me, shows that they’re emotionally conflicted with their unhealthy obsessions, and they’re looking for a way to COPE by downvoting people who have taken control over their lives. Because those redditors know deep inside that they have no control over their OCD habits, and seeing those who have claimed control makes them feel uneasy.
Or maybe I’m just a rare case of a person who realizes that our time on this Earth is limited, and spending hundreds of hours doing OCD stuff is a complete waste of life.
SMR is fine for most home hoarders. It only affects negatively those who need high write speeds, and those who need to reliably write TBs of data every day. As long as they still have 5y warranty, I’m good.
“He proved me wrong! I must deflect in order to steer the conversation in a different direction!”
15+ years of SSD technology and every optimistic fool has been proven wrong about “HDDs becoming obsolete”.
Your analogies are worthless, because you’re referencing changes in technology that happened over a span of a few years only. You can’t compare it to the SSD situation where it’s been 15+ years and still no sight of this technology surpassing old technology.
My shelves are full of anime figurines. I don’t have space to store DVDs.
