Nothing he said hasn’t been said before by other managers, but I can’t think of any other examples where they have gone on at such length about it.
I’m not disagreeing with what he has said, only that the reason he was likely done for misconduct is the extent of his complaint rather than the content.
To be fair the “boring football” opinion could have been used to describe most teams in the PL at some point in the last few decades, whether they are winning or fighting relegation.
My hot take is that there should be a bonus point system, 3 points for the win + 1 extra point for scoring 4 goals, or 0 points for a loss, but 1 point for losing by a single goal.
Teams would chase goals more rather than being happy to sit back and defend their 2-0 lead.
Utd are currently sitting on -5 goal difference after 10 games. Maintaining that trajectory until the end of the season will see them on -19 after 38 games.
To put that in context Leicester were relegated with -17 last season.
Goal difference of course isn’t everything, but a team that is currently being equalled by Nottingham Forest for goal difference, while outspending them by hundreds of millions, probably have due cause to doubt a manager who has been there longer than a season
I was a kid in the late 90s/early 00s and we had MoTD on a saturday, the back pages of a newspaper and (maybe) a weekly magazine.
Now it’s 24/7 news channels, constant updates from clubs, players, managers, god knows how many different panel show/analysis type programs… A million different social media accounts repeating the same shite clickbait articles, a million different people saying stupid things they don’t even believe because some attention for being an idiot I’d better than no attention at all.
And it’s literally no better. Nothing has changed except how much media we consume.
