Programming@programming.dev•What makes Lisp difficult to read?
1·1 month agoi had to try again a couple times too before i got my brain to understand it, also maybe had to find just the right guide (practical common lisp in my case), but now that it’s in there its much easier for me to reason about code using LISP than it was ever in C/++/#, D, Java, Python…

31·1 month agowell, if familiarity can be ruled out, surely there is a quadruply-blind study then? how many participants were there? you need to test teaching lisp first then c and on another group the other way around. you also need to have groups of untrained people and show lisp first, then c, another group for the other way around.

Programming@programming.dev•We can't just call AI-generated code slop anymore
19·6 months agousing AI is now common practice for developers of all levels
is not a fact.
but one person standing in front of their (in part) dice-rolled “work” is not a welcomed sight is one.
any dev much rather would brown their own greenfields than help you regreen your AI-brownies…

“the kind of expectations i have is that people do their best and i expect people to understand what they are doing.”
my immediate response to some idiot thinking i accuse him of cheating because i voiced concerns over his methodologies: “look, if you want to drink mercury while writing code and dont see any problems with that, fine. go ahead. waste away your health. but at least have the decency of sitting under the venting hood and stop making it everyone elses problem.”
