I shoot with a variety of cameras so I think I can say it all has to do with the medium. My Minolta maxxum 3xi produces an insanely sharp image even with some cheap film, so does my Samsung nx100 that came out 10 years ago produces sharp images. A big part of what your noticing is good editing as well as new cameras and lenses, but a big part of it is the technical skill, knowing what to shoot where. IMO it’s a matter of perception when it comes to that, you either have the eye for sharp interesting shots or you don’t at this point in time, you would have to develop that over time to get sharp shots consistently.
