I’m sorry but I have to disagree. Sometimes, unfortunately, guns are needed. For example, if a russian dictator decides to invade your country to wipe your culture. But LLMs and GenAI? Nobody asked for them and we’d be better off without those crappy. Just like with guns 🤪

Programming@programming.dev•Why do developers continue to write code by hand?
33·6 days agoThere you have it, your answer.
I write my code by hand, as LLMs generate soulless, incorrect code no one will want to read but you better do as it’s full of mistakes.
LLMs generate, they don’t write. Writing is something creative, something human. Machines aren’t human, at least last time I checked.

27·7 days agoOn your about-page you write
I don’t use AI when writing or editing my texts.
Why’s that? Why don’t you use AI, but prefer to write your texts by hand?

Programming@programming.dev•Would it be viable for me to start doing freelance web development in 2026?
21·29 days agono, that most probably won’t work.
Being a freelance software engineer myself for four years I can only advise against persuing a career as freelance developer at this point.
The market is fucked up, it’s nearly impossible to get new gigs and LLMs are a big part of the reason why. Also they give companies a weapon to negotiate lower rates. There’s a special place in hell for these people.
Unsolicited advise incoming: Do you have any relevant work experience or are you even an employee? Of so: Great! Hold on to your job to as long as possible or get one.
And join a union!
Than I’m glad I didn’t waste too much of your time 🙂 There is an argument hidden in there, it is:
If your work isn’t about results anymore, but which tools you used, something is off and a tool isn’t just a tool anymore.
Especially if you’re forced to use something destructive like LLMs.
