Would either bake it into your fee or do a flat client dependent “travel fee” since aside from the cost of travel you have to think about the opportunity cost of time spent traveling when you could be doing something that generates revenue.
I have a fee that I quote clients and I always tell them if we hit $X benchmark we will waive that fee.
If camera shutters actually died that often you’d hear about it. I have never once in my 20 year career heard of anyone with a shutter issue. I personally keep body’s for 8-10 years and probably have 50-100k shots/year…
It’s pretty normal and I am fine with it and make sure I am getting a good rate for the jobs, sometimes will bump up the fee for buyout depending on the circumstances. Happy clients become return clients and I am running a business. A lot of people will preach to never give away your copyright, they aren’t wrong, just figure out what hill you want to die on
