The Lottery messed me up, as did Flowers for Algernon. The rest look like a great reading list and worth picking up. Might check the library for some of those.
Okay, but saying we are doing one dumb thing but justifying it by saying ‘well we already are doing these other dumb/horrible things guess the whole system is broken’ is simply giving up on the whole concept of organized government.
There is no government anywhere in the world, now or any time in history, that has done everything perfectly. But individual improvements to human rights and protections get us closer than just throwing ones hands up when it isn’t perfect out of the gate.
We still fight stupid ideas like basically everything JD Vance has ever said because those ideas move us in the wrong direction. Defeating his idiocy doesn’t make everything else perfect but it sure as hell keeps it from getting worse, and hopefully makes it easier to make more positive changes in the future.
Yep, happened to Arcane Austin. Redfall was a disaster because Bethesda couldn’t wrap their heads around the fact that Arcane made (awesome) single player games and not MMOs. Hopefully history won’t repeat itself.
It blows my mind to see so many leaders so nonchalant about genocide.
It’s hard to believe that Annapurna leadership (and Ellison specifically) are surprised by this. It reads like Ellison is known for backing out of deals or simply not honoring them. Why should the staff believe she would honor a spinoff deal?
Hope the team is able to get something off the ground.
I know October kind of implies this but I’d add Halloween to this group.
" optimize staffing levels to be more comparable with industry leaders”
I will never understand why investor types like to play follow the leader rather than giving strategic or financial reasons for business decisions. Who gives a shit if every other studio is laying people off? If the staffing is right for your company then following other industry leaders will only make things worse and cement you in a place behind those leaders.
+1 Usual Suspects for sure. That movie blew my mind.
I’m physically sick from this term.
What’s extra annoying about this is that in his story, his mom gets screwed over by the hospital so rather than thinking to complain or go elsewhere he thinks ‘yah im gonna invest in that’. Investing in bad actors like that just reinforces their shitty behavior.
Because truthfully the president doesn’t make enough difference if Congress continues to be absolutely fucking useless.
I hate how true this is. Honestly we need to have a better strategy for the legislature than we do now. Assuming that it will go the same way as the president or ignoring it because it isn’t one of the “big” elections is why every dem in the last 20 years has gotten roadblocked in moving forward any real progressive policy.
Ooh I like this idea. Would definitely enjoy that.
When I saw the name I thought it would be a video rental store simulator, which had me way more excited than it should have. The actual game sounds pretty cool and worth checking out but I am a little disappointed. I would still kind of like to see an 80s video rental sim even though I can’t see it having mass appeal.
My husband and I watched a bunch of it this year and there was some great stuff on it. Was really impressed by the doom run and the BL2 coop run was easily our favorite with a ton of crazy tricks that made us want to do a new playthrough. The TAS run of super metroid was really cool too. My husband really liked the ocotpath travelr 2 run and I liked the super Mario 2 run.
Based on her description of what the guy said it sounds like he was genuinely trying to just say something nice and she took it that way. As long as the email didn’t follow up with a “so are you still single, let’s get together” or whatever it’s fine.
I think all the news of creepers out there and the Incel crowd makes it hard to see things through a positive lens, but there really are good folks out there. We all would benefit from assuming good intent when we see things like this.
Relevant video from Razbuten about difficulty settings on games.
This is the only version of this idiom that I will ever use or subscribe to.
I’m excited about this. They have done such a good job at developing the game with substantial new content that makes me want to keep coming back to it. Will definitely playing this once it’s out.
I’m only in chapter 2. Taking my time because I’m really enjoying it. I hope that’s not the case - it has been a nice experience so far and will suck to end it on a sour note.
Already working on it. Just need to find someplace I can get a job that will let me work outside the US.
