Moral values. Some of the things I was taught were good in the 80s are now seen as evil and vice versa. I don’t think it’s the only time that’ll happen.
The only CLI editors I’ve used are VI and Nano. So my favourite CLI editor is Nano too.
I was thinking “Would I join you in a tiny building of scrap wood with walls made of chicken wire? Probably not.”
It means that for legal purposes Google is going to assume you stop for red lights.
Very useful article.
If you pick a new user-friendly distro, nine times out of ten it’ll run like a dream out of the box.
If you want to change something minor like a desktop background, you might need to search through menus for the settings or ask for advice.
If you want to install new hardware, like swapping in a new video card, you’ll definitely need some assistance.
I’m mildly annoyed with yesterday-me for leaving so many dishes in the kitchen for me to wash. He knows how I feel about that.
I’m probably going to leave them for tomorrow-me. That guy’s a team player.
I was connecting network ports in a psychiatric ward hub room when a patient out in the hall started aggressively humping the door. I paused to watch, though to myself “this is still better than talking to doctors” and went back to what I was doing.
Agreed.
Master of Orion III. A 4X game for PC that had had all the fun carefully eliminated during development. It was like playing a spreadsheet.
My greatest shame is that I actually bought it twice because years later I couldn’t believe it had been that bad and risked a bargain bin copy. It was exactly that bad.

But you bought a reading copy as well, right?
Right?
Speaking on my wife’s behalf, an epipen. We’re both content with not having needed to use it.
Aren’t we supposed to want a world where our children’s generation don’t have to do that?
When this conversation started at dinner with boardgamers after Der Spiel in Essen I asked the waiter to bring me the appropriate knife to saw my own leg off to escape the trap.
Squishing toasted bread? Like, flattening it more?
The uniform used to be knee-high socks, cargo pants, scraggly beard and bald spot. It’s still evolving.
I’m afraid of drinking through a straw. I’m convinced (against all logic) that I’m going to inhale it and choke.
However, I recently started drinking through a straw again at my dentist’s recommendation, to protect my teeth from carbonation. I have a set of reusable metal ones. They don’t trigger my phobia at all. Maybe the texture makes all the difference.
