  • Yeah lol he was frustrating the hell out of me the first several games of the season with the stuff he wouldn’t challenge in games only to later challenge something that was not only 50/50 at best but were largely not all that important to challenge given the game context at the time lol it was grating. But, he goes and gets a lot better at actually challenging the obvious, egregious calls over the last week or two only to repeatedly lose them lol.

It’s kind of made me more understanding of his frequently frustrating will he or won’t he challenge decisions, because after the series of challenges above, I was resigned to the Warriors never winning another challenge this season lol because if those don’t get overturned then I don’t know how anything does

  • I don’t get how leagues have CBAs with officials that require them to keep clearly incompetent officials.

The more egregious part is that they don’t, actually. The CBA they have with the refs assoc specifically lays out that the NBA has the sole authority to dismiss officials that they find don’t meet the standards and score below a certain threshold on end of season evaluations. There is absolutely an avenue to get rid of incompetent officials, the league just chooses not to.

  • His ex-girlfriend lives in that city. I’d say I hope she never sees this, but I know with the internet that’ll be nearly impossible. My heartbreaks for her. I can’t imagine what it would feel like to see that many people from the city you live in cheer for the person who put you and your children through what he did (for those who want to respond with innocent until proven guilty, he pled no contest to beating her in front of their kids…that’s tantamount to him saying I’m not saying I did do it, but I’m also not saying I didn’t, so get outta here with that). And because they have kids together and still share custody, she can’t move elsewhere. What a lonely feeling that must be.

  • Anyone remember that Nuggets game last season that had like a 45 min or something break in the middle of the game because one of the players made the rim crooked after hanging on it? Things like that are likely the primary reason why they give these out.

That game did produce some of the most entertaining killing time commentary by the Nuggets broadcasters though lol

  • ESPN calling it the NBA Power Index makes it unnecessarily confusing and makes it easy to confuse it as one and the same as the power rankings the NBA itself puts out but it’s not. The NBA’s own power rankings this week are so completely different for a vast majority of the teams that you’d think these lists were from completely separate seasons, much less the same week of the same season lol. NBA’s power rankings this week are below with ESPN’s ranking for the teams from the above list in parentheses:

    1. Nuggets (6)
    2. Celtics (1)
    3. Suns (12)
    4. Warriors (7)
    5. Bucks (2)
    6. Sixers (3)
    7. Kings (13)
    8. Lakers (11)
    9. Pels (18)
    10. Clippers (5)
    11. Mavs (15)
    12. OKC (19)
    13. Cavs (4)
    14. Pacers (17)
    15. Knicks (16)
    16. Wolves (9)
    17. Hawks (8)
    18. Heat (10)
    19. Magic (21)
    20. Raptors (20)
    21. Piston (28)
    22. Nets (14)
    23. Bulls (22)
    24. Jazz (24)
    25. Wizards (25)
    26. Grizzlies (23)
    27. Hornets (26)
    28. Spurs (30)
    29. Rockets (27)
    30. Blazers (29)

  • The trend where some city edition jerseys are in any and all colors but the team’s actual colors has got to stop. Jerseys are meant to be used to display a team’s brand so as to make them easily identifiable. Having them wear jerseys that are entirely non-team colors - or worse another team’s colors - runs completely counter to that. If you’re at a bar or restaurant and quickly glance at the TV with a game on that has the Kings playing in these jerseys, you wouldn’t be able to easily and quickly pick up that it was the Kings playing, in fact you’d probably think it was the Sixers.
