Maps and compass. I like the reliability of finding my way no matter where I am. Plus it’s fun!
Especially the trick of using two landmarks to pinpoint my location on a map makes me feel like an old-fashioned navigator :)
Scatterbrained and friendly optimist. Always happy to give my (unasked for) opinion :)
Pardon my rambling and broken English, I know I often sound like an alien trying to impersonate a human being.

Writing, it allowed for knowledge to travel across vast distances. And for that knowledge to remain available and accurate for far longer than any oral tradition would be capable of.
It really depends on where you’re coming from. I’ve known several people who made a rather successful transition from a more business oriented position to business intelligence. It’s like data science’s older and less sexy brother :) General domain knowledge of business processes and finances are always a positive and IT knowledge for a junior can consist of as little as SQL knowledge and experience with a reporting and ETL tool.
You don’t get to do a lot of programming, but there’s always demand for people capable of building a proper data warehouse or able to translate an information request in a properly build report. Internal positions are often an option because companies like to retain people with expert knowledge of the inner workings of their information systems.

As someone else mentioned, Intermittent fasting helped for me as well. I eat from 12:00 - 20:00. I was never really obese, but my weight was definitely heading that way if I didn’t take action.
Been on IM for a year now (with some cheat days here and there due to social obligations) and my weight dropped about 7 kg. That doesn’t sound like much, but I was only a little overweight and I’m still a lover of sweet foods and other unhealthy things :)
This in combination with adding 40 min walking to my commute and a weekly Pilates session (for all those important core muscles) seems to work for me. Oh and taking the stairs whenever possible. I work on the 7th floor and like to climb the stairs instead of taking the elevator with the rest of the lunch crowd.
Basically I managed to turn an upward trend into a downward one, and in the long run that’s what’s most important to me.
Are you kidding? Mr. Sweet sounds like some kind of professional hitman. I do not want to meet with any Mr. Sweet :)
I started with crochet about two months ago (my 53’rd attempt at a new hobby) with the idea of wanting to make Amigurumi. But it kind of (d)evolved into just experimenting blindly with different stitch combinations and turning them into bracelets for myself. But I’m still having fun with it :)
It’s relaxing, relatively cheap (for what I do with it) and I feel motivated to slowly try to improve myself. I still feel anxious trying to complete any major project though, but that’s just me. There’s a sad unfinished amigurumi monster in my drawer, waiting for me to work up the nerve to stitch him together :)

Something about the opening melody just keeps pulling me back for another listen.
Not in the slightest since I’m still in bed, and not wearing any clothes.
A couple of hours later and I might’ve ended up naked in the middle of the street. In that case… scream and quickly stop before I draw too much attention. And then… run into a clothing store and quickly put something on. Oh, but first collect my bag so I can pay for the clothes. I… do get to keep my bag, right?
Cinderella
Before anyone makes the obvious joke, it was a re-release! I’m not that old :)
It’s still a beautiful movie and I now regularly watch it with my daughter. It has beautiful art, cute animals and catchy songs. 🎶bippity boppity boo🎶
And that stepmother has one of the evilest smirks I’ve ever seen. No magic or anything and still one of the best Disney villains.
I think the only downside is the bland prince. He has about the same personality as a boiled potato.
I don’t remember how old I was when I watched it, but I was young enough to still be allowed to run through the theater.
Both can be true at the same time :)
Sing to yourself. You can have a much wider vocal range with just a little bit of practice. It doesn’t have to be anything challenging, even a simple “row row row your boat” is already a nice exercise.
Personally I find it very soothing and it helps me focus when I’m doing something on my own. Plus I love how my voice can sound when I put in a little effort :)
Thank you for that… thorough explanation. You really know your lubes :)
Thank you, I’ll try to remember this next time something squeaks around the house :)
I actually got advised by my doctor to use vegetable oil for my daughter’s clogged ear. A drop of oil and some massaging for 20 seconds three times a day did the the trick. Took a few days, but the clog was eventually dissolved.
So… being one of those spouses who uses wd40 on everything. Do you have link to some easily understandable info on when to use the right lubricant?
I ermm… only brush in the morning, after I had my shower. I know I should brush at least twice and I really wish I had the motivation to do so, but somehow I just find myself in bed without brushing.
But, to make up for it a little, I brush my teeth very meticulously for a minimum of 6 to 8 minutes. I follow intermittent fasting, so my next meal won’t be for another couple of hours.
My dentist is always full of praise during my half yearly checkup so I must be doing something right?
Blender is my favorite open source tool I wish I knew how to use :)
I’d love to use it for creating my own designs and took several attempts at learning it. But I always end up giving up on it due to lack of time and energy.
3d printing. I started out with a cheapish Chinese model, got annoyed by the lack of accuracy and bought a Prusa.
Then there’s the filaments, accessories, post processing stuff… I own a Dremel now for some reason!
And I’m constantly eyeing those resin 3d printers, telling myself the higher resolution is totally worth it…
The only thing saving my bank account is my low attention span and dozens of other interests :)
Yea, I don’t think this was as much of a brag as that lady thought it was.
