  • I have not played this game in a long time, at least not in any way that involves paying attention to storylines that are not modded, but based on what I remember, not choosing a side is the worst option. The civil war was instigated by the aldmeri(?) dominion to put skyrim into chaos and keep them from pushing the elves back out while they silently take over the empire. It makes things slightly better, but I still didn’t like how terrible both sides were.

This thread has a lot of people saying things like “don’t get a degree” or “get a trade cert” or “work in a different field to get experience” which I feel completely side-steps many issues and the realities that many people face. It’s just a fundamentally broken system. The value of degrees fluctuates so much because of a political climate that has the stability of a pane of glass being violently thrown off of a building and a job market that prioritizes either posting ghost jobs to overwork employees to death or outsourcing its candidate search to whoever can guess the most buzzwords in an application.

  • There’s also an element of whether or not the lendee can reliably make payments. Always having late fees doesn’t show that you’re able to reliably make companies money. And when you’re making payments on time without fees, they still get money from the fees they charge the business. So using and paying back is still good for them. It’s still all about the money, because it always is in the US.

  • This is what I tend to say to people about Harry Potter as a series. It was the first series like it to become popular, and that’s its only merit. Overall it’s very tame and bland, but it got lucky and became popular. I didn’t like it because it was too same-y. After book 3 or so, I don’t care about Harry Potter anymore. Explore someone else that’s more ordinary. It makes a much better setting for derivative works, which to me as someone who writes textbooks of lore for RPGs is more important than just making a series sell well.
