The Bengals value CB, but they don’t need one in this draft. We know we need OL help. We also think Higgins/Boyd will be gone, so WR is good too. TE is a need. DE/DL is still a need, especially pass rushers. We need another RB.
Lotta holes to fill. Just about everything except secondary and even then, S is a need because Battle/Scott sucks.

If we’re entertaining objectively the OP, I would say its kinda a chicken and egg thing too. We are getting run all over by more physical teams, period. That Najee group-hug-run for 20 plus yards early in the game was all you needed to know.
So, when that happens, playaction fakes start working, then you get the single coverage to take shots.
So I think my answer would be more that we miss them in run support than in straight coverage, especially Bell, whom was very good at inserting himself into TFL’s, generating fumbles, etc.
I expected so much more professional pride at home to elevate their play.
Boy was I wrong!
Our pass rush is too dependant on one man and situations breaking our way.
Our defense struggles to tackle cleanly this season and it appears to be worsening.
When you can’t tackle and runners gash you, the play action kills you.
This is also new washing machine day. Perhaps clean clothes will bring us some luck.

Here’s how I see it:
Browning will work if they keep the leashes off of him. They can’t just let defenses stack the box without making them pay. Play action works even when the defense expects it IF they respect it, ie, we prove it early and often that we can throw and run the ball whenever we feel like it because we’re not fucking scared of you.
We can’t drastically alter anything. Those wideouts can catch a 50/50 ball from Browning just like they can Burrow.
Prove it.
How about promoting Burrow to In-Helmet Advisor, let him speak to Browning and they can have five seconds to holler at each other to verify what they think they see.
This is only going to work if we play like we believe it can

I don’t care what anyone else thinks, but when he’s playing like he is tonight so far, Mahomes is the best QB in the NFL.

-Zac Taylor does seem to bumble some playcalls and timeouts. Having Callahan seems kinda stupid. Have a dedicated OC that calls the plays and has a close relationship with Burrow. Let Zac do everything else and be freed from the responsibility and blame of calling the plays.
-The defense can’t do it all and has a lot of promising talent. We just need to improve out pass rush dramatically.
-I want to win now and not tank and I don’t care who’s playing QB when it comes to that, I just want the Bengals to win, however we do it within the rules of the game.
