  • I should perhaps clarify. Some of the comments and points were not specific to EVs at all. For example, acceleration, handling, etc. That would also apply to any sort of hybrid vehicle. It’s more broadly meant to be an indicator to save people the time from describing these advantages. So for instance, someone telling me that a Model 3 has <4 second 0-60 is a non-factor, as is someone telling me that a 2023 Prius has far more horsepower than previous generations.

I would be perfectly happy with a sluggish car, so long as it was reliable, quiet, and fuel-efficient. In my head, the good part of an EV is the quiet and fuel-efficient part. The bad part is that after reading this sub for some time, I’ve found tons of posters complaining about build problems, charger overheating problems, unexplainable loss of range problems, etc.

It is as another poster said. I would not have a home-charging system, so I would be at the mercy of local networks. With zero first-hand experience of this (and no feasible way to test this long-term without an actual purchase), I can really only rely on other peoples’ recommendations :(

  • I unfortunately do not have the option of home charging, so I would definitely need to charge with an available network :(

I live in Southern California where there are supposedly many, but I have no first-hand experience dealing with things like chargers being down, or stations being nonfunctional, like I occasionally see people complain about.

In general though, I would only ever be using it for work commutes, with occasional (monthly?) trips of 200-300+ miles to visit friends who are further away.
