Shocker that Trump is a convicted fucking rapist
I’ve been living under a rock - are you referring to Trump’s civil case against E. Jean Carroll or is there a criminal case out there that’s just not showing up on the first page of search results?

I dig it. Have you got a source link for that wallpaper image?
In general, I downvote content with shitty or incomplete titles.
Since you chose Linux Mint—good choice btw—something to keep in mind is that Mint is based on Ubuntu. While you’re learning and searching the interwebs for how to do x, y, and z, if you don’t find an article or guide specifically about Mint, try searching the same phrase replacing “mint” with “ubuntu.” There’s far more content out there about Ubuntu than Mint, but since Mint is based on Ubuntu, 9 times out of 10 the same solution on an Ubuntu forum works in Mint.
Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your story, this helps.

I noticed for file level backups you mentioned something other than rsync. Any particular reason why you landed on restic instead?
Hmm…maybe test what it does when you boot into live on USB or a different distro altogether, just to isolate whether it’s specific to this distro/configuration or something to do with your hardware?
my phone
How?
Have you double checked that the monitor itself has native refresh rate of 160, not 144? Otherwise I’m stumped.
- For use with steam on linux (i store my games on it)
Have you actually played a game from a mechanical HDD yet? I’m asking because 99% of “freezing” troubleshooting/help posts in gaming subs that I follow on that other site that shall not be named are because the OP stores their games on a mechanical HDD instead of a SSD, so if you’ve been doing this, I’m curious how your experience has been so far.
If you have a little extra cash to burn, I’d recommend springing for an extra 256 GB SSD or something, which can be had for $30 on Amazon in the US (not sure about your country).
EDIT:
- For use with obs on windows (i do some screen recording and need to be able to save the output to the drive)
Now that I think about it, I’d be shocked if recording video to a mechanical HDD went smoothly as well. If my prediction is correct, then you might consider first recording the session to the OS drive (assuming it’s a SSD), and then copying the file to the HDD for long term storage after you finish recording.
Piggy backing to ask how one could play video from streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, etc in full HD under such a setup? My assumptions are that videos would be played in a web browser, and most if not all streaming services like Netflix limit video playback to 720p in a web browser, although I’d love to be wrong about that.
How I interpret OP’s message is that it isn’t specific to Linux, but seeing as we are the Linux community, we might be more inclined to advocate for Linux features? 🤷♂️

There is no emergency here, this is defending shipping lines.
ehh, not just any shipping lines, though
So yeah, that lever that says “OPEN” in big, bold, red letters? Don’t pull that!
Ragebait title.
Excerpt from the article:
Marianne Sivertsen Næss, chair of The Standing Committee on Energy and the Environment, which considered the original plan, told the BBC that the Norwegian government was taking a “precautionary approach to mineral activities”.
She said: “We do not currently have the knowledge needed to extract minerals from the seabed in the manner required. The government’s proposal to open an area for activity enables private players to explore and acquire knowledge and data from the areas in question. Opening up areas is not the same as approving extraction of seabed minerals.”
I have an ad blocker in my desktop browser, but when I tap a link in Voyager, it opens in the app (without ad blocking). I can usually work around it by toggling Reader Mode, so it’s no biggie.
That WaPo article was one of the top search results - thanks for clarifying. I unplugged from the news after the last election, so now I’m playing catch-up.
