I read that they switched from a 4 out offense to a 5 out offense this year. I think the players are having trouble adjusting. Lots of turnovers on perimeter passes. The spacing is also different, which affects players’ ability to find driving lanes.
IMO, you need a lot of offball movement to run 5 out effectively. The Lakers aren’t good at offball movement. LeBron has never been asked to do a lot of offball movement. You have lots of new players forced into a lot of playing time because of injuries and a new offense (so the players from last year can’t provide stability for the new guys because they’re learning the scheme too).
The Lakers need to ditch the 5 out and return to the offense they were running late last year.
