Philadelphia Eagles (8-1) vs Kansas City Chiefs(7-2)
In a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl the Eagles will travel to Kansa City to take on the Chiefs on Monday Night Football. The game will be a matchup of the teams with the two best records in the league this season as the Eagles sit with the best record at 8-1 and the Chiefs are right behind that at 7-2. The Eagles are still looking for their first win against their former coach who is undefeated against the Eagles since leaving after the 2012 season. This could be hard with Reid coming off the bye and his record off the bye speaks for itself and he is the best coach at coming off the bye. Reid’s 31-6 record after bye weeks is the best all time. So the Eagles need to be ready for some wrinkles from the Chiefs and be able to show some of their own, especially with the loss of Goedert before the bye. If the Eagles want to find that first win they are going to need to slow down Mahomes and the Chiefs offense and a big key there will be getting the pass rush going. The DEs will probably be looking to redeem themselves after failing to get to Mahomes in the Super Bowl due to the slick field conditions that prevents them from getting around the edge, but they may need to prepare for another slick field as there is a chance for rain in the forecast. Offensively the Eagles need to get Swift and the running game going early and often, too many times the last few weeks have the Eagles had fewer than 10 carries prior to halftime. That can not happen this week the Eagles need to control the clock and keep the Chiefs offense on the sidelines. It should be a good tough matchup like last years Super Bowl, only this time let’s hope for a different outcome. Go Birds!

Chiefs 38-Eagles 35
The Eagles took on the Chiefs in the Super Bowl in a highly anticipated game that was a bit of let down due to the field being an absolute disgrace for the sport’s biggest game. The field was more like a slip and slide which completely negated the Eagles advantage of their pass from their edge rushers who could not get a footing to get around the edge without slipping. Still the needed to be played despite the poor field positions and Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes put on a show in the first Super Bowl matchup between black QBs. Both QBs excelled Hurts set a Super Bowl record with 70 yards rushing and tied a record with three rushing scores. He also threw for 304 yards and one TD, while Mahomes finished 21 of 27 for 182 yards with three TDs and no turnovers. He ran for 44 yards. In the end it was the Chiefs who came out victorious when Harrison Butker kicked a 27-yard field goal with 8 seconds left to give the Chiefs a 38-35 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night.

General
Referee: Shawn Smith
Philadelphia has won the most games in the NFL this season, tallying a league-best 8-1 mark. The Eagles have either held or shared the top record in the NFL every week dating back to Week 1 of 2022.
This is just the seventh time in franchise history that Philadelphia has started 8-1 through 9 games, having previously accomplished the feat during the 1949, 1960, 1980, 2004, 2017 and 2022 campaigns.
Nick Sirianni is the 11th NFL head coach since 1970 to guide his team to an 8-1 start or better in consecutive years, joining Tony Dungy (2005-06), Mike Shanahan (1996-98), Barry Switzer (1994-95), Marv Levy (1990-91), Bill Parcells (1989-90), George Seifert (1989-90), Tom Landry (1976-77), John Madden (1976-77), Ted Marchibroda (1976-77) and Don Shula (1972-73). Sirianni is the first to do so within their first three career seasons as a head coach since Shanahan (1996-97).
Jalen Hurts is the seventh NFL QB since 1970 to start 8-1 or better through 9 games in back-to-back years, joining Peyton Manning (200506), John Elway (1996-97), Troy Aikman (1994-95), Jim Kelly (199091), Roger Staubach (1976-77), and Bert Jones (1976-77). Hurts is the youngest NFL QB since the 1970 merger to achieve this.
Including playoffs, Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts have combined for a 32-11 (.744) record. According to Elias Sports, that is tied for the 5thmost victories by a head coach-QB tandem during their first 43 games together since the 1970 merger, trailing only John Fox-Peyton Manning (34-9), Andy Reid-Patrick Mahomes (34-9), Matt LaFleur-Aaron Rodgers (34-9) and Don Shula-Dan Marino (33-10) in that category.
Nick Sirianni owns a 31-12 career record with the Eagles, marking the highest regular season winning percentage (.721) by a head coach in franchise history. It is also the 2nd-best figure by an NFL head coach since 2021, behind Andy Reid (.767, 33-10). Philadelphia has registered a 22-4 record since the start of last year, which amounts to a league-leading .846 winning percentage during that stretch.
The Eagles have produced a 25-2 (.926) record in the last 27 regular-season games started by Jalen Hurts (dating back to Week 15 of 2021), including 14-1 since Week 11 of 2022. Since 2021, Hurts has posted a .769 winning percentage (30-9), which leads all NFL QBs.
According to ESPN Stats & Info, Jalen Hurts has won 12 consecutive regular-season starts against teams with winning records. That mark is tied with Peyton Manning (2008-10) and Vinny Testaverde (19982000) for the longest streak by an NFL QB since 1950.
Philadelphia has registered an 11-2 record in away games dating back to the start of 2022, which marks the best road winning percentage (.846) in the league during that stretch. Furthermore, Jalen Hurts has produced a 12-1 (.923) record in his last 13 starts on the road.
Dating back to the 2021 campaign, the Eagles have captured 9 of their previous 10 regular-season games vs. AFC opponents.
Philadelphia ranks 5th in the NFL in total offense (376.8 ypg), trailing only Miami (435.3 ypg), Detroit (406.4), San Francisco (383.3 ypg) and Dallas (379.1 ypg) in that category. The Eagles also rank 8th in rushing offense (129.7 ypg) and 10th in passing offense (247.1 ypg).
Philadelphia is tied for the 3rd-most points per game (28.0) in the NFL, behind Miami (31.7) and Dallas (29.9). Additionally, the Eagles rank 2nd in points per drive (2.61), trailing only the Dolphins (2.78).
Philadelphia leads the league with 23.3 first downs per game. Overall, the Eagles lead the NFL for the best third-down offense (50.0%) while also ranking 1st in fourth-down success rate (76.5%).
Defensively, Philadelphia is allowing only 66.3 rushing yards per game, which leads the league. That is the club’s fewest rushing yards allowed (597) through the first 9 games of a season since 1944 (538).
According to Next Gen Stats, the Eagles have produced the 3rd-most pressures (154) in the NFL, behind Baltimore (167) and San Francisco (155). They are also tied for the 3rd-most QB hits (65), trailing only the Ravens (69) and 49ers (68). Overall, Philadelphia has totaled the 4thmost sacks (30, tied) in the league, behind Baltimore (39), Kansas City (31) and L.A. Chargers (31), while also ranking 3rd with 12 FFs.
On special teams, the Eagles rank 3rd in the NFL in average starting field position after kickoff returns (26.2-yard line), behind Dallas (27.0-yard line) and Carolina (26.4-yard line). Philadelphia also ranks 4th in punt return average (14.0) and T-10th in FG percentage (90.0%).
Brandon Graham will appear in his 188th career regular-season game, tying David Akers (1999-2010) for the most in team history. A 14-year NFL veteran, Graham is also tied with NFL legend Chuck Bednarik (1949-62) for the most seasons played in franchise history.
In Week 9 vs. Dallas, Graham sacked Dak Prescott twice (full and split sack) on consecutive plays to stymy a come-from-behind effort from the Cowboys late in the game. At 35 years old, he became the oldest NFL player to record 1.5+ sacks in the fourth quarter of a game since James Harrison on 12/31/17 vs. N.Y. Jets with New England (2.0).
Graham (72.0) ranks 4th on the Eagles’ all-time sacks list.
alen Hurts ranks 3rd in the NFL in total yards per game (295.9), trailing only C.J. Stroud (301.3) and Patrick Mahomes (300.0). He has also produced the 2nd-most total TDs (22), behind Josh Allen (24).
Since Week 7, Hurts has completed 69-of-92 (75.0%) attempts for 805 yards (8.8 avg.), 8 TDs, 1 INT and a 125.5 passer rating. In that span, Hurts ranks 2nd in the league in completion percentage, passing TDs (tied) and passer rating, while winning each of his 3 starts.
A.J. Brown ranks 2nd in the NFL with 1,005 receiving yards, trailing only Tyreek Hill (1,076). Brown became the fastest player in Eagles history to reach 1,000 receiving yards (9 games). Mike Quick (1983) and Pete Retzlaff (1965) each eclipsed that milestone in 11 contests.
Haason Reddick (7.5, T-10th) and Josh Sweat (6.5, T-15th) are one of two NFL pass-rushing duos to register 6.5+ sacks apiece this year, joining the L.A. Chargers’ Khalil Mack (9.0) and Joey Bosa (6.5).
Since Week 4, Reddick is tied for the 2nd-most sacks (7.5) in the NFL, behind Khali Mack (9.0). Overall, his 4.5 sacks in the fourth quarter/OT this season rank 2nd, trailing only Trey Hendrickson (5.0).
Sweat ranks 4th in the NFL with 50 pressures, behind Micah Parsons (53), Alex Highsmith (52) and Josh Allen (51). He leads the league with 21 pressures in the fourth quarter/OT this season as well.

Matchups to Watch
Travis Kelce vs the Eagles LBs and Safeties
The last time these two teams played in the Super Bowl, Kelce had a big day against them, though this is a very different team in the middle of the field and a different coordinator Kelce is still the best TE in football and the best weapon in the Chiefs offense. Kelce has great relationship with Patrick Mahomes and always seems to know exactly where Mahomes needs to him to sit down in a zone and get open. The Eagles struggled in the middle of the field vs the Cowboys with CeeDee Lamb and Jake Ferguson both torching them. The Eagles will need to be better this week if they hope to slow down Kelce and the Chiefs. Morrow and Cunningham have played well this season, but neither have the coverage skills to keep up with Kelce, so we are more likely to see Kelce matched up with Reed Blankenship, but whoever is covering Kelce should be getting help, you can’t let Kelce beat you.
The Eagles pass rush vs the Chiefs two new OTs
The Chiefs have two new offensive tackles from the last time the Eagles saw them in the Super Bowl. Orlando Brown and Andrew Wylie are gone and have been replaced by Donovan Smith and Jawaan Taylor, who rank as the No. 56 and No. 62 tackles in the NFL, according to ProFootballFocus. That seems like it could be a disastrous combination going against the Eagles’ edge rusher duo of Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick, who have been fantastic this season. Both will look to make up for the Super Bowl where they could not sack Mahomes on the slick field. But Mahomes has been great at avoiding sacks this season. He’s been sacked just 12 times in nine games. There are 32 quarterbacks in the NFL who have been sacked more this season. Mahomes is doing this while holding the ball for long periods of time. Mahomes average time to throw is an astounding 3.02 seconds. His ability to avoid pressure and make backyard football plays is really unmatched and has to be frustrating for opposing defenses. While he hasn’t been taking sacks, Mahomes has been hit 38 times, which ranks third in the NFL and he’s been hurried 40 times, which is tops in the NFL. So the Eagles just have to hope that they’ll speed up Mahomes’ process and hit him when they can. They also have to be aware that he has the ability to scramble for yards and to maintain their rush lanes without getting two far upfield.
D’Andre Swift vs the Chiefs Run Defense
The Chiefs have been very good against the pass this season, however they haven’t been nearly as good against the run. They have the 17th ranked run defense and are giving up 4.5 yards per rush which is 27th in the league. The Eagles have gotten away from the run the last few weeks, but this is a week to probably get back to it in order to keep Mahomes off the field and control the clock and move the ball and wear down the Chiefs porous run defense. If the Eagles could get the run game going like it was in weeks 2 and 3 of the season with Swift it could be huge in getting the Eagles through this tough stretch of games. Getting Cam Jurgens back at guard and a healthy Hurts who is also a threat to run should help the Eagles get the run game going this week if they commit to it.
The Eagles corners vs the Chiefs secondary
The Chiefs secondary has been playing lights out this season. The Chiefs have the No. 5 passing defense in the NFL, giving up just 176.0 yards per game this season. The Chiefs boast a really great 1-2 punch at cornerback with Trent McDuffie and L’Jarius Sneed but their third cornerback position is more of a weakness, whether it’s Jaylen Watson or Joshua Williams out there. And recently, it’s been much more Watson. Waton will generally play on the outside on 3rd downs with McDuffie inside. The Eagles should be a test for the Chiefs as Smith and Brown are by far the most dangerous receiving duo they will have faced so far this year. Brown in particular might be a tough matchup due to his size, he has roughly 30lbs on all three of the Chiefs CBs. The Eagles may also look to play more 11 personnel and utilize veteran WR Julio Jones at a high rate with Dallas Goedert sidelines with a broken forearm. Lining Jones up in the slot could pose matchup issues on third down with McDuffie who Jones is 4 inches taller than. The Eagles will need to get the passing game going to keep up with the Chiefs though.
