I really wanted Kenny to be our guy, but looking at what other young QBs are doing makes me think taking him was a bing swing and miss. I was so happy draft night “I can’t believe he fell to us.” Now, it all makes sense. So what i would like to hear from yinz is who is your next QB1? Here are a few potential options.

If we want to be competitive next year and give Cam, TJ, Minkah a shot at a ring:

Potential Free Agents:

Kirk Cousins.

If he becomes available, he will be expensive and we may not be able to out pay the Falcons. He’s at the end of his QB life, but he’d be a noticeable upgrade at the position and give that defensive core a shot at the ring.

Jacoby Brisset.

A much less expensive, and also younger option here and I thought he has always played well, not elite, but makes good decisions. He understands AFC North football and I think he’s an upgrade over Kenny/Mitch.

If neither of the two are available, I think the Cam window is certainly shut and TJ/Minkah will be rapidly approaching. If that’s the case we should opt for athleticism at the position.

Tyler Huntley.

This would be the cheapest option and for good reason. He’s unproven. His limited time on the field shows a 60ish% completion percentage. But he can move. Have a mobile QB opens up a lot of space for everyone else.

Possible trade candidate.

Trey Lance

What? Are you serious? Well, yeah. He was traded to Dallas for a 4th round pick after never really getting a fair shot in SF. Lance had an injured finger in year 1 which kept him from getting preseason reps. Filled in for Jimmy G for two games and did pretty decent. Last year he was week 1 starter and broke his ankle in week2. I think he was without Kittle both of those games and this was obviously before CMC arrived. Then Brock Purdy happened. Considering all of that, it might not be too difficult to give Dallas a better 4th(we own LAR) or more for a shot at a franchise Qb.

I’m sure there will be many who disagree, but I’d love to hear what yinz think?

If we maintain most of our defensive weapons next year, we don’t need to find a Justin Herbert or even Kylar Murray level QB. We just need someone who is slightly better than Kenny and can freaking throw the ball deeper and more accurately.

Yesterday is a prime example, I blame the POOR play calling but we were under 2 minutes with the ball and just needed to get it into field goal range and couldn’t accomplish that. I think they needed to move the ball 30 yards? Maybe less….point being that should be attainable by any NFL level team and any NFL Starting QB. Instead we went 3 and out on three shitty pass plays.

Browns get on the field and do EXACTLY what our offense couldn’t. That is all the film you need to see how terrible our offense is
