After getting some emotional distance these were some of the positive things I saw - the rest is best left unsaid.
Joe Mixon played extremely well showing good hands, balance, vision and even some explosiveness.
Tanner Hudson continues to make plays and is starting to find more openings deeper down field in defenses.
Drew Sample is showing some real improvement as a receiver.
The offensive line was doing a good job run blocking early in the game.
Myles Murphy is improving. He’s starting to attract some double teams and get some pressure on the QB and I noticed he got some snaps from both sides of the DL this time around. He still gets fooled, but the improvement was encouraging.
Jake Browning is extremely mobile and he generally made good decisions with the football. He seems to have more chemistry with Hudson and Irwin at this point, but that maybe because he’s had more snaps with them with the scout team. He underthrew some balls, but was better than I expected.
I think that game was the first time I ever saw Joe rattled. It was when he had to call the two timeouts close to each other because the receivers couldn’t get on the same page.
