As someone that does not watch Tennis regularly at all and only casually browses here and watches highlights on YouTube, Kyrgios intrigues me somewhat. What I hear and read about this man is that he is basically the Ronaldinho of Tennis as in incredibly naturally gifted, but his head is not in the game. Ronaldinho could have been the GOAT but really only had a 2-3 year prime and was a normal player by 30. Are the claims that Kyrgios could be an all time great ‘‘if he tried’’ true? Or does he actually try and just cover up his losses by saying he wasn’t going hard anyway and Tennis is just a hobby?

He could’ve been better than he was and maybe won a slam or two, particularly Wimbledon, if he fully committed but he wouldn’t have been a GOAT. He’s talented but I believe it’s a bit overstated. He doesn’t fully commit because he’s scared and knows if he does all the things like actually get fit and focus and train hard every day and he STILL loses then he can’t hide behind any excuses anymore. Having that insecure scared mentality alone is never gonna allow anyone to be a GOAT.
