    Video Notes

    1st play (Negative):

    - Myles Garrett destroys the opening drive with OL’s poor execution. TE chips (positive) LT oversets allowing MG to go inside on him.

    2nd Play (Negative):

    - Sprint left option to throw a flat on 3rd & 18. Poor concept for the play call. It was called to give more room to punt. Throw could be better but it’s not the leading problem with this play. No answers in the scheme.

    3rd Play (Negative):

    - Not great bob. Poor schematic answer. Usually you throw into the hot (free rusher) toward Pickens who is in 1on1. Better throw is to make the post throw by drifting to the left in the pocket or to throw the hitch since KP is hot on that side. They throw the swing into 3 CBs rushing the RB. QB looking confused and the HOT answer cannot be the swing on this play.

    4th Play (Positive):

    - Lazy stop route to GP. KP did well here throwing in rhythm, nice base, quickly throws to GP, smooth and throws a good pass. Detail on the route running can be better. Specifically the top of the route. This seems to be consistent in the route running department for this offense and hopes to see that improve by the new OC.

    5th Play (Negative):

    - Short in/fin route to the #1. KP makes the right read and throw. WR (DJ) looks to be in the wrong because WR is suppose to not run into the defense for zone and run away for man. HATES the WR reaction here and used a lot of ink to show that.

    6th Play (Neutral Leaning Negative):

    - KP gets the 1st with his leg but there is a much better play. KP should’ve thrown the over on this play rather than run. KP has a tendency where if he moves he starts to run rather than look down to throw or adjust in the pocket. Offense’s issues is not one guy (pointing to the OC being fired)

    7th Play (Negative):

    - Static Hank on 3rd & 5. Not good enough in a modern offense for this to be a play call. Browns play this call really well covering it as well as the answer the scheme provides. KP plays it different than tradition but that still doesn’t fix the problem with this play call.

    8th Play (Neutral Leaning Negative):

    - 2nd and long. Mirrored speed outs. Throw is better than seems since he’s trying to protect his WR from getting obliterated. Very basic scheme here. WR (Allen Robinson) might be short of his depth. KP chooses or is taught to throw MOF rather than the speed outs which are open. Speed outs can’t be the number 2 read and it looks like the MOF read is the 1st read.

    9th Play (Negative):

    - Read the 2nd play summary.

    10th Play (Negative):

    - WR (DJ)/QB are not being on the same page. KP looks good mechanically on this throw. 14 is open and needs to see the ball there.

    11th Play (Positive Leaning Neutral):

    - Choice route for the 1st down. Schematically could be better in details. TE needs to chip, WTF is a 6 yard corner route? KP does a good job here.

    12th Play (Negative):

    - Double post over. KP cannot or refuses to see it or he’s being coached not to. This is the play that’s been posted here a ton. Scheme is good here. If you want to read my breakdown of it check this LINK out

    13th Play (Negative):

    - Mirrored Speed Outs. Throws the speed out and sails the ball over the head. Mirrored concepts are beginning level stuff. The throw needs to be better both with accuracy and anticipation.

    Overall Summary:

This scheme is deficient. Still needs more modern concepts that are not mirror static routes. We shall see if there is any change with a new OC. KP isn’t playing well enough and there is a lack of detail on all levels on play. Things to do quick. Lose hank, sprint option, mirrored concepts. Add PA and pure progressions. KP needs to be to see the MOF or they need to teach him to read the MOF. There will be lack of clarity on that for a long time. They have the pieces but needs to be better everywhere.
