Let’s say sake of argument we take Drake Maye at #3 overall, are we even sure that Drake won’t just turn out to be a bust especially if we do bring him in? I mean the chances of him busting are great especially if Belichick sticks around. If we get rid of Belichick, then Maye definitely has a chance at Offensive Rookie of the Year next season. At least with Maye watching whatever highlights I can of him, Maye definitely has a cannon for an arm. He also can use his legs to run the football. Plus his decision making too and the way he is able to read screens, this definitely needs to happen for us in Foxboro. We obviously need something to cheer for or cheer about.

But if we take Maye, we have to get weapons around him. We just have to. That is the only way he succeeds long term as a Patriot well that and we need to get a line to protect him as well. We do all of this under Maye and we can actually become a Wild Card team next season or in the discussion.

I strongly disagree with the notion that there aren’t weapons. There are two running backs who can catch out of the backfield. There are three solid receiving Right Ends who have shown flashes when someone can actually get the ball to them. The young receivers, especially Douglas, have shown flashes. Bourne is solid when healthy. Parker is the only guy who doesn’t cut it IMHO. I’m not saying the weapons are amazing, but they’re not awful. I remember when people said Jonu Smith wasn’t a weapon and that was such a bad signing… and now we see what he’s doing on the Falcons. I think this is an issue of not having a quarterback to actually distribute the ball effectively. Maye would instantly help the guys around him look better. If you put Mac on the chiefs, we’d be saying, “gee, the chiefs need more weapons.”
