If the Patriots lose by 10 points this weekend (spread is 9.5), what would you like them to do at the trade deadline?
If they lose this weekend by the spread amount (10), then the season is over. No 2-6 team has ever made the players.
If that happens, what should they do?
I’m surprised that it’s an unpopular opinion around here, but I’m rooting for the Pats to win no matter our standing this season. I don’t see any real value trading our very few good players for draft capital. I think draft rebuilds are a myth. You have to get lucky in all of your early picks to make it worth it, and let’s face it once you get past the 2nd round (maybe even the 1st) draft picks are more or less interchangeable.
There may be a few exceptions to trading away a star player who is late in their career and about to hit free agency and will have a big sticker price for next season. Do we even have anyone like that?
I’d rather we continue the course and try to build something to last in terms of team culture and experience with the players we have than gamble on rookies who may (and probably will) not be any better.
Any cheering for a tank season is not a true fan.
