I can understand why there would be questions about this. I’d asked previously why the Cowboys hadn’t moved to the NFC-South when they realigned the teams - and got the answer about historical rivalries with older, large market teams.
If you consider it from the 49ers side - the competition with the Triplets-era Cowboys dynasty I’m sure has left a mark in 49er fans minds in the same way the more recent Seahawks dynasty has put a point on Seahawks-49ers games for us.
I consider it forgivable that the Cowboys might not think of the 49ers as rivals as you guys already have 3 rival teams, but would point out that if another team sees you as a rival it’s not a good idea to overlook them when they’re a pretty good team (or run your mouth about them like Parsons did prior to & after week 5).
