The Last of Us Part 2 (which I haven’t played) kills off Joel at the start
Honorable mention: Mass Effect 2 has Commander Shepard die at the beginning but he’s instantly resurrected
What other games do this?
It’s ridiculous because if you remember how cautious and ruthless Joel was in the first game, he’d never realistically be put in the position that he was in in Part II. The writing is honestly quite terrible. Not to mention it has such a pointless conclusion. On the other hand, I couldn’t believe how good the game looked. The visuals and gameplay was absolutely phenomenal. And the few moments in the game where the game forgot it’s own story and just focused on the atmosphere (The hospital and hotel sections with Abby) and gameplay was some of the best stuff you could get on a PS4.
