It’s ridiculous because if you remember how cautious and ruthless Joel was in the first game, he’d never realistically be put in the position that he was in in Part II. The writing is honestly quite terrible. Not to mention it has such a pointless conclusion. On the other hand, I couldn’t believe how good the game looked. The visuals and gameplay was absolutely phenomenal. And the few moments in the game where the game forgot it’s own story and just focused on the atmosphere (The hospital and hotel sections with Abby) and gameplay was some of the best stuff you could get on a PS4.

Blame Part II for that one. It split the community in two.
And the best part is that they will still be perfectly playable 20 years from now(as long as you take care of the discs). 🙏 Physical media 🙏

Don’t forget Red Dead 1 on the PS2 if you’re trying to experience the whole franchise.

Where would you say it lands in the Robocop timeline?

I would love for this studio to revisit Rambo with their current funding/capabilities. Either that or a game based on Commando.

I feel like that wouldn’t work because the McClane only kills like 10 bad guys in Die Hard. It would be difficult to make Die Hard 1 into a video game while still staying faithful to the source material. It would have to be a whole new story/conflict; which I’m totally cool with. Clearly this studio is more than up to the task.

How would you explain the party seeing visions of events from the first game throughout REMAKE? If I never played the original, I’d be really confused.
The Steam Deck experience from two years ago is very different from the Steam Deck experience in late 2023. IMO, I think IGN kind of got it right giving the launch Steam Deck a 7. Over the last two years of updates, the experience is considerably better now; hence the 9 for the OLED Deck.

Great trailer and narration, but the “story so far” also includes the events of Final Fantasy VII. It’s odd for them to leave such critical story elements out.

I’m hoping it means new Windows drivers!

This is a testament of how amazingly well optimized and scalable the RE engine is. It’s a shame it’s Capcom’s in house engine and more devs aren’t able to use the technology.

The first game is easily the best power fantasy money can buy.

Just needs a manual and it’s perfect.

Not to mention manuals are typically much more reliable and easier/cheaper to repair and have much less failure points. Modern automatics are typically not serviceable and require replacement of the entire unit. Another advantage to a manual is the ability to bump start the car if the battery is too low to run the starter. If you’re ever caught in this sitation, having a manual is a godsend.
To be fair, Mercedes is hardly the cornerstone of reliability. But yeah, I’d say you’re right on the money.
