I am starting to see used Mecan S vehicles (2016-2018) for under $30K. Most have 50K to 90K miles on them. I already own a newer Subaru, so basic transportation is covered. Is it crazy to buy a budget Mecan S to just get a feel for it without spending $60K+ for a newer one? I’d only own it for a year or two?

Timing cover, transfer case, PDK service. If those have been, it’s incredible value. Otherwise, your wallet will be … unhappy… it can cost a whole extra Macan S if they haven’t been addressed.
