Even though we’re in a weird spot pick and age-wise, it feels like some kind of move would need to be made to keep our players happy?

We got players like CamJ and Mikal in their primes and roleplayers like Royce and DFS in the beginning of their 30’s.

It seems like they want to compete at some level and while Ben is the big question mark it feels like we’re just wasting time here, also not owning our picks for the next few years.

Cam Thomas (22) is untouchable for anyone.

Claxton (24) would require Gobert levels of assets because he will be a force for nearly the next decade and many of those he’ll be at his peak which he isn’t near yet.

Dariq is close to untouchable because being the number one player out of high school (go watch his Montverde highlights) he has such a high level of talent and seems to be a high level, charismatic personality.

Noah Clowney might be that stretch big that we and most other teams are looking for.

Mikal. I like his leadership skills and I want to build around him but at the same time a godfather offer might just be too good to turn down but some teams might view Mikal as that the type of two way player who can fit with that teams stars and get them to a championship.

Cam J - he is such a mature guy and a role model but his game is that of a 6th man or 5th starter on a contending team. $100 mil is an overpay even as the salary cap increases. The only way it becomes good value is if CJ levels up and I don’t see that occurring. Can he become more aggressive? Given his high character CJ will be very tradeable despite the large contract.

It’s very possible Mikal and CJ could revert to their 3rd option / 5th option like they were on the Suns when Brooklyn make a run but that’s not gonna be for a couple of years at least.

Let’s be real Ben Simmons is an albatross and no team is going to trade for him without taking us to the cleaners and it would be naive in the extreme to attach draft pics to Ben to get off his contract. Let it expire in summer 2025. The Nets can’t move forward significantly with BenTen on this roster because a triple single can never justify his $40 million salary.

Lonnie - fan favourite but I would trade him if we could get a first round pick for him.

Royce and Dinwiddie - both 30. I don’t want them extended. Can we get a pick for them?

DFS will likely be our most in-demand player and while he has been good for us this season he will be a difference maker for a contender so let’s get a young player or a draft pick in a trade for him.
