Hong Kong is in fact China, you heard it here folks. Redditors will even turn their back on Hong Kong sovereignty if it means they can blame the Chinese for something.

Hong Kong never had sovereignty. Let me put it in words you will understand.

Before China liberated Hong Kong Chinese citizens, they were under the anachronistic colonial British government.

I’m Hong Kongese myself. You’d be delusional to think that Hong Kong has any sovereignty to China nowadays, and it is continuously eroding to the point of no return. Plus there is no point defending a corporation. All they care about is making money thus most of them are pro Beijing

They have no consistent morals. It’s basically just “China bad.” When the Hong Kong protests were going on, all of them were saying “Hong Kong is its own country.” But now when it’s convenient, they go back to blame China in some way.

Booger brains complaining about copyright infringement when 95% of American companies willingly sent all their manufacturing to China. Hey, that’s the free market, capitalism, and competition. Really epic stuff.

They can be based anywhere they want to be, but their money runs through the US and if they lose in court that money can be collected on. They are a large company who would be foolish to close their company because they stole a few million from one creator. They are better off dragging this in court for 5+ years and finally settling then closing up shop just to avoid a relatively small penalty compared to the scale of the company.

They have American offices and I assume they’ve taken legal advice on whether this is worth the cost and assume it will be. Whatever happens the company’s name is tainted now.

They sell their cases in stores in the US and they have offices in LA. They do a lot of business in the US so an import ban would hurt them more than paying for damages. Asset seizure and freezing accounts is also a thing if they ignore the lawsuit.
