Extremely frustrating loss by the Heat tonight, not because the game was for the in-season tournament nonsense- but just losing in general. This is such a Heat way to lose and how i see this team throwing away a lot more games this season.
It was another night where the Heat settle for an excessive amount of 3s and don’t get to the line nearly enough. The discrepancy is disappointing and it has nothing to do with officiating- but settling for 3s.
The quickest way to see big leads evaporate at any point in a game is by settling for 3s the way the Heat do. This team has done it time and again and don’t learn. As I said, they will do it quite a few more times before the season is over. It’s basically how they’ve lost most of their games over the last couple seasons.
And, yes - Jimmy was shooting well from 3 - but I will keep saying it - he needs to be on the attack more rather than settling for 3s. Especially with Tyler out - what the Heat need from Jimmy is to attack the basket. My worst fear of the night came true - the Heat would need a 3 to win it - they wouldn’t want the game to go to OT - and Jimmy would go on to settle for a 3 rather than attack the basket - that’s how it played out.
On a different note, I’ll say something else that will be unpopular:
Sometimes it seems like the Heat choke leads on these first night of back to back games so they are forced to bring back their main guys back into the game rather than giving them necessary rest - this way they have some justification for sitting out on the second night of a back to back for “rest” aka load management.
Let’s see what kind of performance they give tomorrow night.
Now we need to beat Milwaukee and the Knicks need to lose in order to make the wildcard.
