The Charlotte Hornets have not had a great season so far as they currently have a record of 5-9 (.357) and at one point had a 4 game losing streak. Despite this Mark Williams has managed to have a positive total +/- of +2, although since it’s still so small it will likely shift between positive and negative from game to game unless the Hornets win some of their upcoming games. Mark Williams having the highest +/- out of everyone on the Hornets does not include Amari Bailey and Leaky Black for obvious reasons. They have played a cominbed total of about 1 non-garbage time minute. Mark Williams is the Hornets’ efficiency and impact king.

What makes you think it’s a misleading stat? Mark Williams has the best some of the best advanced stats out of anyone on the team, is very efficient, one of the best rebounders in the league and in my opinion one of the best defender on our team. Despite the Hornets being 27th ranked defense in the league they’re not THAT bad at protecting them rim (mainly thanks to Mark) as they’re 13th in the league at defending shots within 5 feet of the basket. He is a good player to pair with LaMelo on the offensive end as he is a great lob threat, overall just a good finisher and 2nd in the league in offensive rebounds per game. Obviously a player who makes the team better is gonna have a good +/-. +/- is very far from a perfect stat in terms of showing who the better player is but so is pretty much every stat in existence.

I said he was a good defender and protects the paint, although sometimes I feel like he’s a bit too aggressive with fighting for rebounds. His ft% is also a bit too low and in today’s league there is no excuse even for a big to shoot below 70%. Apart form that highly efficient, sets good screens, can defend well and crash the boards so all good.
