  • 2nd in the league in offensive rebounds. Best advanced stats on this team. Best on/off stats on the team. Despite only being 27th in defense as a team we have are 13th at defending shots within 5 feet of the basket, thanks to Mark. 1 of 11 players this season averaging a double-double with rebounds and he’s the one who’s doing it with the least amount of minutes per game. 2nd in FG%, 8th in RPG, 2nd in ORPG, 3rd in TS%, 11th in PER, 9th in WS/48 and 1st ORTG. 3 of his last 4 games have been 15+ rebound games. Has had the most statisical impact on defense so far out of anyone in his draft class. Has only played 57 NBA games and already has the Hornets record for most offensive rebounds in a game. Is the only Hornet with a positive +/- this season. Is super close to being 1 of 12 players to average 1+ SPG and 1+ BPG this season, only 0.1 SPG away. Last year the Hornets were .529 when Mark Williams was a starter and became were one of the best defenses in the league.

  • What makes you think it’s a misleading stat? Mark Williams has the best some of the best advanced stats out of anyone on the team, is very efficient, one of the best rebounders in the league and in my opinion one of the best defender on our team. Despite the Hornets being 27th ranked defense in the league they’re not THAT bad at protecting them rim (mainly thanks to Mark) as they’re 13th in the league at defending shots within 5 feet of the basket. He is a good player to pair with LaMelo on the offensive end as he is a great lob threat, overall just a good finisher and 2nd in the league in offensive rebounds per game. Obviously a player who makes the team better is gonna have a good +/-. +/- is very far from a perfect stat in terms of showing who the better player is but so is pretty much every stat in existence.
