The Las Vegas Raiders are planning to release veteran cornerback Marcus Peters, reports Vic Tafur of The Athletic.Las Vegas has a bye in Week 13, and Peters isn't expected to be back with the team for Week 14 against the Minnesota Vikings, Tafur adds. The impending move comes after interim head coach Antonio Pierce benched Peters in the second quarter of Sunday's 31-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs following a missed tackle. The two had a brief exchange on the sideline at halftime.Tackling has been an issue for Peters, who joined the Raiders on a one-year, $3-million contract in July. The 30-year-old entered the Chiefs matchup with 11 missed tackles in 2023, according to Football Reference.Peters racked up 43 tackles (one for loss), five pass breakups, and one interception - a 75-yard pick-6 - across 12 games with Las Vegas. He allowed a 103.2 passer rating when targeted. The Raiders nearly parted ways with Peters earlier this season, according to Tafur.A former Kansas City Chiefs first-round pick, Peters was once considered one of the NFL's most dangerous corners. The Washington product, who paced the league with eight interceptions and 26 pass breakups as a rookie in 2015, has also led the league in pick-6s twice.
