14 game losing streak is terrible and embarrassing, but you should still see the potential in this team. If we’re in this position, we should at least make sure the next 10 years of pistons basketball will looks brighter than the last 10 years, and not need or want to rebuild again.

FYI this is gonna be kinda long.

It’s no surprise why we’re bad. We’re starting a lineup whose average age is 21 years old, and the next youngest in 23. We have 4 starters who are in their 1st or 2nd season with our other in his 3rd year. Teams usually have 1, maybe 2, 1st/2nd yr players in their starting lineup. And the biggest reason, we have maybe 2 starters who can create their own offense right now.

For Cade to be a true #1 option and star he needs to have actual space around him. I could give all the excuses abt why he’s playing bad right now, but he is. That being said, Cade was the “best player on the court” at the USA scrimmages, and many star players have said “he’s gonna be great”. Those aren’t just fluke moments or guys like Kd or Steph just saying shit. He played like a star at USA runs because he had 3 other players who could shoot 3’s and create their own offense plus Duren.

Cade’s game is best when he plays with space and we have none. Cade lives in the midrange and iso game, and it’s a lot harder to get looks and run the offense when there are 4 players in the lane every time. He’ll be a much more efficient scorer and playmaker when he has space to move and run the offense.

I really think it’s all just about getting space around Cade and our team will be better. We’ll see, but it would make sense getting back our second best player & scorer Bojan will help the entire offense. That, plus we’re also missing Monte, Joe Harris, just got back Burks & Livers, all of our players who can space the floor.

So while it’s really really bleak right now, what’s new? The last 10 years have been miserable basketball to watch - 1 season. This time we have players most of the fan base think could be really good. We haven’t had a an elite player since probably the 03 roster. We’ve been at the bottom many years, acquiring talent through the draft, because that’s what we need to do to have a star in Detroit. We’re not a free agent destination and haven’t had assets to trade. If you think Weaver sucks, you can at least admit he has drafted good players. We have 3 top 5 picks and another 3 first round picks that look like good individual player and can become a good core. It’s 5/6 of their 1st and 2nd seasons and they’re being tasked with doing everything, playing 24-34 mins every night. They need time to develop and work on their game and are being thrown into the fire.

We have Cade, Ausar, Duren, Ivey, Stewart, Sasser. I think all 6 have proved they have a place in this league and some with the potential to be STARS. Who’s the last player on the Pistons that was as fun to watch or could do the things Ausar and Ivey do? We have talent and and they need to grow. Weaver needs to improve the team around then, but he, and us, shouldn’t want to rush it and waste all the losing we just had for mediocrity. We have the cap space to start filling out the team, we’re starting to gain assets, and if we get another top 5 pick cool. Hopefully Weaver drafts another stud and they won’t need to start day 1.

The future still looks bright, we suck now, but I’m glad we aren’t trading our core away or spending $86 million on Dillon Brooks.

huh? we won 17 games last year without cade, and nothing else changed besides adding dumpy ass contracts, and we are worse than last year with Cade healthy. We are competing to have the worst NBA record of all time. Please send us whatever you are smoking.

I see 4 potential Allstars on the team, hopefully one a superstar. I understand if a trade does happen to shake things up, but the young, core guys on the team still have me feeling optimistic.
