Not exactly a surprise but still great to see for Steam Deck fans for the ongoing support from Valve, as the Steam Deck is now firmly the global top seller on Steam once again.
The OLED makes the original seem like a prototype. Mind you, don’t drop the money if you don’t have the strongest reason to upgrade, yeah it’s way better but I wouldn’t want anyone to break the bank for basically 2.0 of the same device.
That being said, it feels like they took all the criticism of the original great unit to heart. The screen is fantastic, and the extra size solves my gripes with the original (the screen was easily the worst part of the original Deck, it had huge bezels and overall a much lower quality).
But it’s not just that, the whole thing is way snappier, it’s way smoother navigating menus, pages load way faster, and the upgraded networking is very noticeable.
The touch screen responsiveness is a great surprise, the original had kinda a clunky touchscreen, which was very noticeable on desktop mode. Now, I no longer feel like I’m constantly fat-fingering keys or buttons
