After a surprising 9-7-1 season last year, the Giants looked to build on that 2022 season and they did so by giving Daniel Jones a 160M extension, tagging Saquon, trading for Darren Waller and signing Parris Cambell. Unfortunately, these moves have not panned out for them. They are currently 2-7 and the season seems to be over for the Giants, it’s time to see their midseason needs.

Offense

QB: 10/10 - Daniel Jones hurt his neck earlier this season and then tore his ACL so it’s very unlikely he’ll come back early this season and he hasn’t been good at all this year. Tyrod Taylor and Tommy Devito are not the future of the organization. The Giants need to draft a QB early.

RB: 7/10 - I have no clue why Saquon wanted to stay with the Giants but as of now, he’s the Giants’ starting running back. Although he’s good, he’s going to need help now that Matt Brieda is likely going to walk.

WR: 8/10 - While Jalin Hyatt and Wan’Dale Robinson are good receivers, the Giants need a true WR1 to complement them. Darius Slayton will be a free agent and even still, he’s inconsistent. Definitely in need of upgrading.

TE: 4/10 - Darren Waller has the potential to be a great tight end for the Giants if he can stay healthy and get the ball. Daniel Bellinger is a good TE2 and a good blocking tight end. Not a bad duo but could potentially look a TE3 in Day 3.

OL: 9/10 - I was going to break this up between tackles and interior but this unit is so bad that I put them together. The only reason this isn’t a 10 is because of Andrew Thomas. Though John Michael Schmitz has potential, Evan Neal looks like a bust and Justin Pugh and Mark Glowinski are hitting free agency. The o-line needs major help especially the interior.

Defense

IDL: 8/10 - The Giants did good by trading Leonard Williams for a second round pick but him leaving leaves a hole at DT for the Giants. Dexter Lawrence is a stud and a building piece for the Giants’ defensive line but after him is a pretty lackluster group. Furthermore, A’Shawn Robinson

EDGE: 8/10 - Kayvon Thibodeaux is looking to be the pass rusher of the future for the Giants but he needs help. Azeez Ojulari is always injured and never dependable and there’s very little depth outside of him. While it shouldn’t be a first day need for the Giants, they need to consider giving Thibodeaux a guy opposite of him.

LB: 3/10 - It feels like the first time in forever that the Giants don’t need a linebacker. Micah McFadden and Bobby Okereke look a great linebacker duo. There is no definite answer that the Giants will bring Isaiah Simmons after this season so they can draft and add pieces for depth behind them.

CB: 6/10 - Deonte Banks is looking like a stud for the Giants and Cor’dale Flott looks like a good nickle but after them is a lackluster group. Adoree Jackson will be a free agent and Tre Hawkins is constantly picked on when he’s on the field. The Giants have to address CB2.

S: 5/10 - This can go up depending on if the Giants retain Xavier McKinney or not, he’s played much better in the last few weeks and Jason Pinnock has played at a high level. They’re a great tandem but they need depth.

Overall, the Giants have work to do but their roster is at least salvageable with the young pieces they have. What do you guys think?

the 07 line was trash in 05, young lines take time to gel, we have a rookie/sophmore starting and another sophmore on IR, no one wants to hear it but we have to try and get something out of these assets, change the coach, bring in some strong IOL and Swing vets and let the young guys gel as a unit
