Im not much of a gamer (ironically I make games for a living) but I made a bet with my kids that if the Detroit Lions make the playoffs this year I’ll buy them a system, and its looking like almost a lock to happen, so I want to get in on some Holiday deals.

This is their first non-Nintendo system so I’m a little lost on which way to go at this point in the generation cycle. For reference they’re 7 and 9 year old boys and are gonna be new to gaming that isnt based around crafting or Italian brothers. (i made them use my old NES, then SNES first, then got them a Switch a couple years back)

I would day Xbox is the ways to go. The reason be GamePass Ultimate. That will save you a lot of money in the Long Run.

Not only does GamePass have a lot of Games for the Kids it also brings all the Xbox Games Coming Day 1 to GamePass not to mention a ton of 3rd Party Triple A games come out as well Day 1.

I bought the XBSX and PS5 Disc Day 1 through Pre-Order. Since then if I would have played only on Playstation I would have spent Hundreds of Dollars on Games. Enough to buy another PS5 and than some.

I’m just gonna say what I saved this year to make it easier, but just think it has been 3yrs+. Just to give an idea of how much you can save over years. Saving a lot of money from GamePass will let you in the future buy a PS5 if you want it.

With PS5 you will have to Pay for every game you want to play or go without playing it. Hoping that in the very long future they add it to the Very Expensive PS+ Premium.

The game I would have bought this year that I was able to save.

    1. Persona 5 Tactica-$60
    2. Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name (Yakuza 8)-$50
    3. Atomic Heart-$60
    4. Wo Long-$60
    5. Lies of P-$60
    6. Forza Motorsport-$60
    7. Like a Dragon: Ishin-$60
    8. Starfield-$60
    9. PayDay 3-$60
    10. Sea of Stars-$35

There are a lot more games that I would have bought. Most Indies. Though those are the Main ones this year. Not to mention I was able to Play so many games that I would have never payed for and was able to try them since the free. Games like Human Kind, Party Animals etc.

Not to mention Im already happy Im saving money with Persona 3 Reload and a few other upcoming games that have been disclosed.

Anyways, I love all consoles and have all consoles including PC (i7 13700K RTX4080) which makes Xbox even better since you can take you games there and save files. Not to mention you can use the same account at the same time on PC and Xbox. (have not tried same game) Digital games only.

I can also play them on my ROG ALLY on the go. Currently playing all the Yakuza games on it. They are also all on GamePass so that’s more than $200 that I have saved.

PlayStation 5 is also great. That said they have been releasing games very long intervals. Tends to be Sequels that will also be on PC and do not add any 1st Party or 3rd Party Triple A games Day 1 or within Months to the Service despite being more Expensive. Not to mention Unlike Xbox it does not expand to PC.

So, for kids I would say again Xbox since it will save you money and you and the kids will always have something to play since they are always adding games for all ages.
