So I was out exploring my world, I ended up going about 10,000 blocks from my home.
I came across a ruined nether portal with enough obsidian to repair it so I decided that was enough exploring for today and I was going to use it to make the trip home a lot shorter.
So I entered the portal and my game froze while building the terrain. When I restarted the game and loaded in, I was in the nether, inside a fortress and immediately surrounded by Wither Skeletons and Blazes. They killed me before I even had a chance to react but luckily I was holding a totem of undying so I had a chance to run to safety before being killed for real.
After I healed up and cleared out the mobs, I decided it would be safer if I just went back to the overworld and went home the long way as I no longer had my totem of undying. So I went back to where I loaded in and to my horro, I saw that there was no nether portal generated. Apparently this happens if the game crashes while loading in to the nether from a new portal.
Great, so I have no totem of undying, no nether portal to get back and no obsidian to build a new portal. Could this get any worse?
Yes it could! On top of all that, when I loaded into the nether, instead of my nether coordinates being my overworld coordinates divided by 8, it just gave me my overworld coordinates. So now instead of being only about 1000 blocks away from my home portal, I’m 10,000 nether blocks away!
So a bug has created a new challenge for me to travel 10,000 blocks in the nether without dying. I’ve pretty much done everything on this world up to this point so this feels like my true end game.
Wish me luck bros!
If you have an ender chest you could just put all your items inside, die and spawn at world spawn.
Or just make a new portal. It’s not that hard with just bucket.
Or just enjoy the journey back home the old fashioned way. 10k block is not that bad.
