Patriots having a projected top 3 pick is a foreign language to fans like myself. Was born in 2001 and all I’ve known is the Patriots being competitive. Things eventually have to change though and now it’s time to rebuild.

But for the older Patriots fans who witnessed the low years before the dynasty, how does this team compare to them? We had some real stinker years in 90 and 92 winning 3 games combined. Along with a few years of 5-11 and 6-10 throughout those times as well.

Is this the lowest you’ve seen or it still doesn’t compare to some of the pre Brady era Patriots?

I don’t think it’s as bad as the really bad teams I grew up with. This year we have a good defense and a bad offense. In the bad years of the 90s we were bad at everything. This team is only a few pieces from being competitive. Those teams weren’t.

The one thing that’s scary is we have a coach who won’t be around in a few years and who knows who our next coach will be. Back then we didn’t have a coach but got the big tuna, then Carroll (he wasn’t great here but with hindsight was a good decision) and then of course Belichick. How long after Belichick retires before we have a good coach or GM? I guess we’ll see.

We also had the number one pick and got a franchise quarterback. A few different turns and Bledsoe might have even been in the Hall of Fame. If nothing else there were points when he was a top 5 QB in the league.
