Allowing for the players to police the community (whether the reports are justified or not, but mostly not) has made a once chatty community go dead silent.
This makes for boring games. Nobody wants to talk in chat anymore. I think people are too afraid they’re gonna get reported if they say anything.
In OW1 you could have playful banter with enemies and teammates alike. I made a lot of friends back then, not just with teammates but the enemy side too! Now crickets! Now it’s hard to make friends with people who don’t talk.
People don’t even respond to basic questions. And I don’t mean anything along the lines of “Hey, can you swap?” or whatever. I mean ice breakers.
It’s a sad state and I blame Blizzard for their Defense Matrix and not doing something about the mass false (abusive chats) reports going on.
for a few people seeking self spaces, these people don’t really underestimate how bad a quiet lobby is for a multi-player game.
Again at the end of the day I don’t really care if a billion dollar company will sink their own game. But sacrificing a palatable environment of multi-player gaming (including the positives and negatives) where player interaction is a key part just to create a safe space for a minority of players is a bad idea financially.
I guess they will go on this course until high paying customers start getting banned and they lose serious money, so they have to course correct.
