For everyone saying they should give up on Pickett, who do you suggest they should either draft, sign, or trade for.
Before I get downvotes into oblivion let me make it clear that in now way shape or form do I believe the Steelers will give up on him nor should they unless for the rest of the year they lose and he is the main reason why. The Steelers are notoriously stubborn on admitting wrong decisions and I believe Pickett will at least be given through next year. But I wanted to ask everyone who they think would be a REALISTIC option (No Caleb Williams or Drake Maye) to replace Pickett if they were to go that route. Let’s say they have Pick 16 in the draft this next year for reference. (The Steelers likely wouldn’t trade all the way up into the top 5 for Williams or Maye).
I don’t think we should give up on Pickett yet. But his play this year is certainly lowering his stock and not improving it.
I don’t like the idea of signing bigger name QBs in UFA or trade. Because teams don’t let above average QBs go. So this means that the team that knows them the best thinks they aren’t good anymore (see Wilson, Watson, and Rodgers?).
I think a middle of the road guy like Jimmy G or Kirk Cousins would make us better. But it wouldn’t make us a contender IMO.
Draft is the way to go for new QBs. And the success rate isn’t high (hopefully that’s not what we’re seeing here).
