For everyone saying they should give up on Pickett, who do you suggest they should either draft, sign, or trade for.

Before I get downvotes into oblivion let me make it clear that in now way shape or form do I believe the Steelers will give up on him nor should they unless for the rest of the year they lose and he is the main reason why. The Steelers are notoriously stubborn on admitting wrong decisions and I believe Pickett will at least be given through next year. But I wanted to ask everyone who they think would be a REALISTIC option (No Caleb Williams or Drake Maye) to replace Pickett if they were to go that route. Let’s say they have Pick 16 in the draft this next year for reference. (The Steelers likely wouldn’t trade all the way up into the top 5 for Williams or Maye).

I think he deserves at least one year without Canada , and with new OL & QB coaches. That way we can see if it’s just him, or if he’s being held back by poor coaching & offensive schemes. If he doesn’t improve after the offensive coaching is changed, then it’s probably time to move on.

Hell, Josh Allen was pretty bad his first couple years too, and he’s pretty damn good now. Even the great Terry Bradshaw was AWFUL his first 2 years, just serviceable his third, then became great.

I don’t think we should give up on Pickett yet. But his play this year is certainly lowering his stock and not improving it.

I don’t like the idea of signing bigger name QBs in UFA or trade. Because teams don’t let above average QBs go. So this means that the team that knows them the best thinks they aren’t good anymore (see Wilson, Watson, and Rodgers?).

I think a middle of the road guy like Jimmy G or Kirk Cousins would make us better. But it wouldn’t make us a contender IMO.

Draft is the way to go for new QBs. And the success rate isn’t high (hopefully that’s not what we’re seeing here).

No one. You give kenny a third year with a different OC. At the end of year 3 he’s either your guy and you pick up his 5th year option or he isn’t and you start planning.

Realistically, I don’t think there is a viable option to replace Pickett this year/coming offseason that would prove to be a substantial upgrade in the short term to line up with the talent we have that could potentially age out. I’d much rather invest in foundational pieces that could give any QB a better chance particularly in a new scheme. So, take the capital necessary and spend it on upgrading the o-line (center and RT at this point), bolstering the secondary, and finding a true reliable ILB.

I think the Holcomb/Alexander combo has been pretty good at ILB. I mean, I don’t record the games or have access to the all 22 and dissect plays or anything…but it seemed they were both making some plays on Sunday. Didn’t hear Roberts’ name or see much from him.

I could not agree more. As much as I love Najee it blows my mind we drafted him and then we were like “yeah, a 3rd round guard can replace Pouncy at center”…. Invest in the trenches.

Me. I will accept the league minimum to play in Kenny’s stead

I think he deserves a chance to play with an actual offensive scheme first

If he sucks when Canada is gone, that’s fair and we should ship him, but until then I’m ride or die
