So…. Long story short I had a leaking valve cover I didn’t realize was leaking as bad as it was until today.

My oil pressure dropped momentarily on a extremely steep decline on the way to work but luckily it’s close to a parts store.

On the cold start to the parts store the gauge flickered quckily twice when it was at idle on a hill with no light until I gave it gas and started moving.

When I changed the oil and filter only about 3/6 quarts came out.

From experience usually when something like this happens it’s enough to start the clock on internals no matter how quiet it is or the kind of engine.

Any one seen it turn out any other way ?

My dad’s old Volvo 940 Turbo used to have a pretty bad oil leak. He isn’t the best at taking care of his car, and twice when I borrowed it the oil pressure light came on when going uphill, accelerating etc. It took around 2-2.5 liters of oil to get it back up to the correct level (oil capacity is 3.85 liters).

I finally fixed the leak about 2 years ago and the engine is still doing just fine at around 550K kilometers.
