Sooooooo I made a huge mistake this morning. At 5AM pitch black I tried to drive into my house. My parents keep one gate open and it was so dark (I wasn’t paying well enough attention) and was too close to the gate.

My mirror on the right side ripped off. Not broken just off and needs to be screwed back on. But the door handle cover and black piece ripped off and I scrapped my car. My dad popped it on but it’s loose and clearly needs to be repaired.

He says I should just take it to a body shop. I’m curious if I should go straight to the dealership. I can afford to pay a bit more. I just want it to be done right. I don’t want to be ripped off though. 😭

this is true for most professionals. because they follow what they are being taught and have been doing these same stuffs for ages that they dont really have the time or mindset to look up the internet for new stuffs, written by nobodies like you and me who probably arent pros.

textbook of dont fix what doesnt break. casuals like us dont know much so we rely on the internet, and with our own background we might have come up with innovative search parameters that gives us alternative ways of doing things.

i have talked to electricians, mechanics, carpenters, furniture makers, many times they say it’s the first time i mention about something, even if the method or item is common on the internet, if their suppliers doesnt update them they dont know about it. But still i respect their professional knowledge and skill, something that cant be gained by just googling.
